CASE STUDIES

Case Studies 1

A client based in Indonesia had 20 + splices manufactured on site by an overseas service company. After a number of months the splices were seen to be degrading and of great concern to the client. CHS attended site to over inspect all splices within the system using Radiography Techniques to ascertain the specifics behind the failures.

Upon inspection we could clearly establish inconsistent splice manufacturing techniques coupled with inappropriate standards leaving the client with a sub standard product and one which would not service the needs of the client long term.

The outcome of our radiography investigation being a more detailed account of individual splices and a series of recommendations based on facts obtained to replace those splices that did not comply coupled with a more stringent QA process to ensure compliance moving forward.

Case Studies 2

A client based in Israel wanted an update on the overall condition of their overland conveyor and required not only a carcass condition report be generated but also cover gauging and life predictions. The client contacted CHS to look at and evaluate their particular conveying system. The client was uncomfortable with the lack of knowledge for the system as a whole from which it could forward schedule purchasing/maintenance plans to ensure continuity of service for their customers.

CHS carried out extensive  cover gauge checks for multiple section lengths and provided for predictive reports for all bet sections.

As part of our service provision, we supplied Mobile MFL scanning to obtain quantifiable data sets for all section belts along with over inspection of all conveyor components.

Our scanning and inspection regime provided the required system details allowing the client to make informed decisions regarding maintenance budgets and scheduled purchase requirements removing any doubt as to when to set in motion finance requirements needed to maintain their service strategies.

Case Studies 3

A client based in PNG contacted CHS to look at and evaluate their particular conveying system. The client had experienced loss of efficiencies through extended downtime and reduced asset knowledge. Upon initial recording using Radiography and MFL

technologies of the conveying system further analysis undertaken directed CHS to conclude that the client would be better placed employing an appointed MFL system allowing remote access to the data with scanning frequencies that reflected the client's concerns.

The motivation for having an appointed installation being the ability to cross-reference current data streams to the initial radiography works and preceding MFL scans using proprietary software applications.

The client now has a system that can operate as designed and has access to detailed condition reporting to confirm and further interrogate the conveyors integrity.

CHS together with the client appropriately manage the conveyor system in line with those issues and concerns raised through the collection of and subsequent analysis of current conveyor data streams.
